What are Xccent SteelDeck™ modular decking panels made of?
SteelDeck is not a composite decking material. Our modular panels start with an incredibly strong 16-gauge steel core. The steel panels are completely encased in a vinyl coating and engineered to provide protection, beauty, safety and comfort that is not possible with other materials.
How durable is the surface of SteelDeck decking?
Through our high-tech finishing process, our coating bonds and holds tight, so it never needs paint, stain or other chemical treatments. Water cannot penetrate, so it will not mold or mildew. Ultraviolet Light inhibitors are added for true color stay. It does not absorb heat and our no slip, soft texture finish provides superior comfort and safety.
What are modular panels and how are they different from decking planks? With traditional decking and composites, an individual deck plank is the standard material. The usual installation procedure is to cut and fasten each individual deck board. Xccent's SteelDeck is a panel made with a series of planks, formed into a modular piece. Pieces range in sizes from one square foot up to 16 square feet.
How fast is installation? Installation is very fast! Because a SteelDeck project requires very little or no cutting, and the modular panels fasten to your framing with 75% fewer fasteners than required for traditional decking, an average size deck surface can be completed in as few as a couple of hours by one person.
What type of framing is required for SteelDeck Vinyl Coated Steel Decking? SteelDeck is designed for use with a 24" O.C. framing and is compatible with traditional wood framing systems or as an alternative, Xccent's exclusive SteelDeck Framing System can be used to provide a completely maintenance free deck from the ground up.
What type of railings can be used with SteelDeck? Most popular railing types are compatible with SteelDeck modular decking panels. Xccent recommends fascia mount systems for ease of installation.
Has Xccent's SteelDeck Vinyl Coated Steel Decking been tested for use as a decking material? Yes, the product has been tested in accordance with the International Code Council (ICC) guidelines, and has been registered as compliant with all testing, terms and conditions for your safety.
